I couldn't decide between the dc25 and the dc41.. as i kept looking i was thinking about the dc28 and canister but i narrowed it down to those two. The fact that this one was sleeker looking, i liked, and it has more suction power so i kept leaning toward the dc41..plus it has a bigger dirt canister and a longer cord. I have read a ton of reviews on these and people would always complain about how it set up since it doesn't have a red lever like the dc25 so i was a bit worried but its a non issue once you play with it and figure out how it works. I tried both at various retailers, costco, macys, kohl's.. and i am glad a purchased the dc41. I love this thing.

Dumping the dirt is a breeze and the canister clicks back on easily. I don't notice any big clouds of dirt when emptying.. obviously don't hold it high up when dumping. And yes sometimes a gob of hair hangs on to the canister but you can give it a little shake or grab it with a finger, no big deal.

It comes with a mini turbine head (not kept on board the machine) and 2 others that are kept on the machine. One i use for a small duster but the bristles are stiffer than i would like and the other, i don't know, i don't use it. its like 4x1 with a red piece of felt. Maybe for the couch?

When you go from the carpet to the laminate/wood flooring or whatever you might have the head will drop so the bristles won't scratch it, plus you can press the button next to the power button to turn them off. You can also easily remove the housing around the bristles so you can clean the hair off of it (in my case anyway).

The only drawback is that the hose can be stiff and hard to keep out but I'm assuming it will loosen up with time. It retracts itself back in amazingly and doesn't make the machine topple over when you pull on it. I always take off the big long wand that is attached to it because it can be awkward in small areas.

I have been vacuuming once a week even when it doesn't look all that dirty and i don't know how this thing does it but the canister always has gobs of dirt and hair in it. Probably half full each time. My house is 1300 sq ft, not too big.

Yesterday i cleaned under my stove and got gobs of mess from under it. The vac would make funny noises periodically and i would shut it off and back on. Sometimes it would take care of the issue sometimes not so i looked further into it. There was a small piece of something in the small wand i was using that was semi blocking the airflow.

As far as the "ball" goes. Its not a big deal to me. It is kinda nice i suppose but i still vacuum back and forth like i always have. I can navigate easier though and the head is a lot lower than my other vac so i am now able to put it under my furniture a short ways rather than hitting it. :)

I had heard a lot about this vacuum from a co-worker and decided to buy it for myself for Christmas. I was not as impressed as I thought I might be. It works well, but no better than another brand that I had. In my opinion, it was not worth the money and did not live up to the hype.
